Gastrotourism has become a trend. People looking for authentic taste and top quality do not hesitate to travel across the country. Some enterprises have broken out of the grey average and turned into sought-after destinations. One such venue is the famous Šumava pub, U Štěpána.
Šumava native Štěpán Ruda spent his adolescence on a farm in Vojetice, which his family took care of. In 2008, Štěpán and his wife Zdeňka decided to combine family tradition with a vision of modern, yet genuine gastronomy. They opened a pub that has become a phenomenon in the course of years.
Guarantee of Fresh Ingredients
The meat comes from the family farm's own organic farming, and all the other ingredients are home-grown as far as possible. Thanks to this approach, unique delicacies are served to guests. Local culinary specialities include, for example, the unconventional appetizer of beef tongue with horseradish sauce and celery purée, while the main course menu features rump steak au gratin, cream cheese and pepper sauce, and an innovative hamburger with gorgonzola. For lovers of Czech classics, there is a traditional pork side, elevated to a delicacy with sheep cheese sauce, cabbage, cracklings and Parmesan gnocchi.
Homely Comfort Reigns Here
In addition to the refined menu, gourmets are also attracted to Vojetice by the friendly atmosphere of the pub, in which the entire family, including daughters Zdenička and Nička, are involved. Even the youngest twins, Vojta and Štěpán, are growing up with a love for family heritage and honest regional gastronomy. U Štěpána has a seating capacity of 58, with the possibility of additional seating on the glass terrace. Moreover, a separate lounge for 16 guests creates the ideal setting for corporate events, Christmas parties and private parties.
Experiential Living in a Caravan
The recently built romantic Zdenička caravan, located in the Vojetice organic farm area, just a few steps from the pub, has also had its first successful season this year. It offers guests the opportunity to extend their gastronomic experience by staying in the bosom of Šumava nature.
Just a few minutes outside Prague, there is a place where time passes more slowly. The air is filled with the scent of freshly cut grass, blooming herbs and meals prepared from authentic ingredients. Grandma's Garden (Babiččina zahrada) presents a seasonal menu based on fresh ingredients, the lightness of summer days and a respect for traditional recipes.
