World-renowned artist Gordana Glass pushes the boundaries of glassmaking to new dimensions. Her works have found their way into the hands of personalities such as Queen Elizabeth II, the Norwegian royal couple, Pope Benedict XVI and, most recently, maestro Placido Domingo.
Gordana Glass works in her Bratislava studio, where she creates glass masterpieces, ranging from monumental sculptures to interior designs, vases, bowls and unique prizes for winners of prestigious sporting competitions. Moreover, her creations are exhibited all over the world and are owned by many interesting people from all corners of the earth. “Painting with precious metals satisfies me – gold and platinum in a delicate interplay with white, aquamarine and noble purple. That’s who I am, glass is my soul,” says the creator, whose works are distinguished by their originality and high artistic quality.
Gift for Maestro Placido Domingo
One of the most powerful moments of this year for Gordana Glass is the creation of a work for the legendary opera singer, Placido Domingo. “The Maestro tells stories with his voice, I tell them with glass. It was an honour to stand face to face with a legend of the opera world. It was a moment that carried more than words. I realised that even though our art speaks a different language, its essence is the same – pure emotion. And that’s what we shared together at that moment,” the artist confides.
