Some are here to play golf, others to kitesurf or to lounge under a sugarcane umbrella, gazing out to sea on one of the endless beaches of fine white and golden sand.
Those who wish to treat themselves to a little of everything should choose the Heritage Le Telfair Resort. This Golf & Wellness Resort is in the middle of the only preserved natural area of Bel Ombre. The 2,500-hectare resort at the south-western tip of Mauritius is surrounded by a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Tropical Elegance In addition to a lush green park and endless sandy beaches, guests can expect elegant French Colonial architecture, a personal and welcoming approach and a wide range of culinary and leisure activities.
Built in 19th-century Colonial style on the grounds of a former sugarcane plantation, Le Telfair Hotel is named after the renowned Northern Irish botanist, Charles Telfair, who lived here in the 19th century. Guests stay in stylish little villas that are scattered in a beautiful park surrounding the beach. Also hidden amidst the lush vegetation is the Seven Colours spa pavilion, where guests can relax after a round of golf, tennis or a boat trip. Guests can also take part in regular Yoga or Pilates classes and choose from a range of massages at the end of the day.
Ultimate Offer for Golfers Golfers will enjoy two courses here: the Le Chateau and the brand new La Réserve Golf Links.
La Réserve Golf Links This devilish links course is situated in the immediate vicinity of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Former Open Champion, Louis Oosthuizen, who designed the course with renowned architect Peter Matkovich, said: “La Réserve Golf Links is everything I dreamed of – a dramatic, challenging course in an extraordinary setting overlooking the Indian Ocean. The landscape and environment are second to none and we have worked hard to create a course that captures the spirit of links golf, the purest form of golf, while using the native grass and sensitive design to remain authentic to the surrounding landscape.”
Le Château Golf Course
The second course, Le Château Golf Course, located right next to the hotel grounds, rightfully holds the title of “The Best Course in the Indian Ocean Region”. Interesting scenery, large greens and wide fairways await golfers. The 18th is not particularly difficult, but the many ingeniously placed obstacles require maximum concentration. Even beginners are catered for; not only with the courses on offer, but also with a practice nine.
Architect Peter Matkovich has created a very attractive course that stretches over gentle, hilly terrain with many views of the ocean. There was no need to cut down a single tree or build artificial water obstacles. Everything was ingeniously adapted to the terrain.
Culinary Orgy
The hotel has a great selection of restaurants. However, the highlight of the dining experience is the refined Le Chateau del Bel Ombre – a restaurant located in a lavish 19th-century mansion. Diners can enjoy the beautiful gardens and a piece of Mauritian history, but most of all, the excellent local and international cuisine. The Château del Bel Ombre restaurant is one of the best on the coast.
In today's busy world, when overwhelmed by obligations and an endless stream of information, we often forget about our own needs. However, recognising and respecting them is the basis of a harmonious and fulfilling life. One of the key concepts that helps us to find a balance between self-care and consideration for others is healthy egoism.
In North Tyrol, within reach of Achensee and under the Karwendel peaks, is Posthotel Achenkirch – an adults-only resort that systematically features the concept of a balance between performance and regeneration. This is not a classic wellness hotel, but an ingeniously conceived resort that combines the peace of Nature, physical activity and the promotion of good health with elements of Eastern philosophy.
The story of David Josef Becher (1725–1792) is firmly embedded in the history of Karlovy Vary. A doctor, scholar, chemist, patron, benefactor and balneologist whose approach to treatment and the development of spa services still influences the appearance of the town today. Becher is rightly considered one of Karlovy Vary's greatest legends.
