Take advantage of the last beautiful Autumn days to visit Switzerland for a long weekend. Travel through the largest canton of Graubünden by Rhaetian Railway. Reach Switzerland via your own route or by train directly from Prague. Catch the train in Prague in the evening, have dinner on board and wake up in Graubünden in the morning. Chur is an ideal location for accommodation, the perfect base from which to take train trips in various directions. The capital of the canton offers visitors cultural and culinary experiences, as well as a Visitor’s Card, which allows free entry to museums and galleries, a half-price trip to nearby Brambrüesch mountain, and entry to the swimming pool. And where should visitors go? Here are our tips for a four-day itinerary with a Swiss Travel Pass.
DAY 1: Arosa and Chur
Our first day takes us to Arosa, which is reached in one hour from Chur by a unique train that ascends to an altitude of 1 000 metres on a 26 km track without cogwheels. Arosa is a picturesque mountain resort with a lake in the centre, popular among hikers and skiers. The Bear Park at the intermediate station of the Weisshorn cableway has also gained popularity with visitors. In the afternoon, on a visit to Chur, stroll through the romantic old town with a possible stop at the pink café – Zuzu’s Cupcakes – behind the Town Hall.
DAY 2: Davos, Klosters, or even as far as Scuol
We spend the second day exploring the famous sports centre of Davos – the town situated at the highest elevation in Europe. We can also stop briefly in nearby Klosters and from there continue on to picturesque Scuol, to be enchanted by the local traditional architecture. If time permits, there will be a visit to Bogn Engiadina mineral spa. The vast array of the world of saunas and spas of all kinds is crowned by an outdoor pool with a view of the surrounding mountain panorama.
DAY 3: Bernina Express
A trip on the Bernina Express to Tirano, Italy and back is guaranteed to thrill. We recommend taking the Bernina Express panoramic train to reach Tirano. Please note that place reservation is mandatory and subject to a fee. For the return trip, use the regional train and take a short walk to St. Moritz. In Autumn, visitors can look forward to the Indian summer in the lower regions and the first snow in the highest places, i.e. ideal contrasts and also exceptionally photogenic.
DAY 4: Glacier Express and Treno Gottardo to Zürich
On our last day, we leave Chur aboard the famous Glacier Express. Please note that a reservation is required here as well. We journey through the Swiss Grand Canyon to the highest point of the Oberalppas Glacier Express route (2 044 metres above sea level) and from there on to Andermatt. Passing through the Göschenen gorge, the route continues on one of the most modern SBB Treno Gottardo trains to Zürich, where we enjoy the evening atmosphere before starting the return journey. The route is ideal in Autumn for the colour contrasts of the landscape, but this trip is available all year round. Every season has its own unique charm.
A new tourist phenomenon is being born in Veselí nad Moravou. The name "Dog in Dock" encompasses not only the increasingly well-known winery, but also its extensive area. In addition to the enjoyment of Moravian wine, it offers many entertainment, cultural and sporting activities. The latest additions in May 2024 are stylish accommodation facilities and a bistro anchored in the harbour, for the opening of which Dog in Dock has created an exclusive sparkling wine produced by the Champagne method.
When well-known personalities and discerning clients decide on where to stay in Milan, they have no doubts at all. As a rule, they head to their and our favourite Principe di Savoia. Hotel Director, Ezio Indiani, who has been running the hotel for almost 20 years, spoke to us about the famous people he has encountered here who like choose this hotel, as well as about his experiences and sought-after services.
