The mountainous region of South Tyrol is endowed with extraordinary natural beauty. Despite the harsh climate, local residents literally fell in love with it. Proof of this is the exclusive estate of Ansitz Steinbock. It provides a beautiful view of the surroundings, a warm atmosphere filled with the friendliness of the owner, Elisabeth Rabensteiner, as well as cuisine renowned throughout the region.
Just Like Home
The essence of the warm hospitality of Elisabeth Rabensteiner and her team permeates every corner of Ansitz Steinbock. Together, they are the proud guardians of the centuries-old tradition of this unusual accommodation facility, whose history dates back to the 15th century. A sensitive renovation in 2022 gave the entire estate an additional touch of modern exclusivity.
A Room Just for You
The air-conditioned interiors of the Manor and the adjacent former hayloft boast spectacular views of the countryside and the lanes of ancient Villandra. There are 12 distinctive, individually furnished suites at Ansitz Steinbock. They delight guests with their sleek elegance, clean design and high-quality solid wooden furniture. The extensive amenities of the suites are crowned by a private sauna.
Travellers' Tastebuds Rejoice
The award-winning kitchen is the heart of the hotel. Although the menu has a cosmopolitan flavour, it is based on selected regional ingredients. The tasty delicacies created by Chef Tomek Kinder and his team are served in the luxurious Defregger Stube and Courthouse Stube restaurants, where we recommend choosing the 5-course Alpine dinner. Wine lovers can definitely trust the advice of the local sommelier, because at Ansitz Steinbock great attention is paid to the perfect pairing. Guests may go down to the wine cellar, located six metres underground, for a separate glass. Not to be missed is the breakfast with superb regional products, including jams, cheeses, smoked meats and plenty of sweet temptations, served in the Stube – the typical Tyrolean wood-panelled dining room.
Experience Something Extraordinary
Guests love to return to Ansitz Steinbock, because the owner has arranged many unexpected experiences for them in the form of stay packages. In the summer season, we advise the choice of a package prepared specifically for this period. It is called 'Alpine Magic with Elisabeth' and comprises 7 nights' accommodation, including Royale breakfasts and 6 Alpine dinners. The package is enhanced by a unique trip with Elisabeth to her private mountain hut on the Alpine pasture of Villanderer Alm. With this lovely lady, guests will enjoy group cooking in the chalet kitchen, lunch on the terrace, as well as wine tasting. However, many more experience packages have been prepared.
A Region Made for Excursions
Villanders is an area made for wandering in search of discovery and the beauty of Nature, such as to the mountain hut with Elisabeth. Guests may also visit Totenkirchl church, which is situated at an altitude of 2 186 metres above sea level. The forged crosses (Grabkreuze) in the village cemetery and a visit to the Törggelestuben – pubs and wine bars on local farms – are also interesting. Excursions to the biotopes, to the plateau of Villanderer Alm or a hike along the Waal River are other amazing experiences.
